Privacy

Last updated October 12, 2026

Bean Working keeps what it collects to a minimum and doesn't sell or share it. Here's everything, in plain terms.

Cookies

When you add a take, a cookie gives your browser a random ID (it isn't linked to your name). It keeps things to one take per device per shop and lets you update your take later. It lasts about a year.

If the site is ever temporarily password-protected, a second cookie remembers that you entered the password, for 30 days. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.

Takes, notes, names and email

A take stores your score, your big three picks and what you say a shop does well. These count toward the community numbers right away.

Your optional first name and note are shown publicly, but only once we've approved the note. Your optional email is kept private: it's never shown on the site and is used only to follow up on your take or, if you tick the box, to send you updates when new shops are added.

Suggestions

If you suggest a shop, we store the shop details, your optional note, and your optional email, which we use only to let you know when we visit.

Spam protection

To limit spam, we keep a one-way hash of your IP address with each take or suggestion. It can't be turned back into your address.

Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It doesn't use cookies, and it reports totals (pages visited, where visitors came from, country and device type) rather than tracking individuals.

Google Maps

Maps on the site are provided by Google Maps. When a map loads, your browser connects to Google, which receives your IP address and may use cookies under Google's Privacy Policy. Shop hours, addresses and phone numbers are fetched from Google by our server, not your browser. Directions links open Google Maps.

Who stores it

Takes and suggestions are stored with Supabase, our database provider. The site is hosted by Vercel. We don't sell or share your information with anyone else.
